Computex 2024 saw a 70% increase in visitors and buyers compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 85,179 attendees, according to a statement issued by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) on Friday. The top ten visitor countries/regions were Japan, the United States, South Korea, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
TAITRA attributed the increase to the event’s central theme of “Connecting AI” and the presence of numerous high-profile tech executives, including keynotes from the CEOs of five of the world’s leading semiconductor companies: namely Jensen Huang of Nvidia; Lisa Su of AMD; Christiano Amon of Qualcomm; Pat Gelsinger of Intel; and Rick Tsai of MediaTek. Other notable speakers included Supermicro President and CEO Charles Liang, NXP Semiconductors Executive VP and CTO Lars Reger, and Delta Research Center President Dr. Tzi-cker Chiueh.
The success of Computex 2024 is a testament to Taiwan’s growing strategic importance in the global tech ecosystem, including the production of cutting-edge AI chips for Nvidia, AMD, and Intel by TSMC and the manufacturing of high-performance AI servers by Foxconn, Quanta, Inventec, Wistron, and Gigabyte, and Wiwynn. With the ramp up of the AI PC, edge AI, and other physical AI devices still in its early stages, the island’s tech companies are set to play an even bigger role in the industry in the future.
TAITRA also announced that Computex 2025 will be held from May 20 to 23 next year. Mark that down in your calendar now!
