No prizes for guessing that AI PC laptop PCs will be one of the major themes at CES 2024 next week. Intel, AMD, and Microsoft are all planning events to promote their visions and platforms for the AI era, while the major PC OEMs will be displaying their latest AI-capable desktops and notebooks.
One device that has caught my eye is a laptop featuring two full-size OLED screens and a full-size keyboard that Asus has posted a teaser about on Twitter. I have become so used to a dual-screen setup in the office and at home that I never travel without a portable 15.6” ZenScreen USB monitor from the same company. Having a notebook with two integrated displays would be even better, saving me from the nagging but no-doubt irrational worry about breaking it that I get every time I load it in my backpack.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Asus laptop stacks up against other dual-screen notebooks like the Lenovo Yoga Book, not to mention whether it delivers on the company’s promise of “duo AI experiences”.
Along with the PC players, smartphone industry heavyweights such as Qualcomm and Samsung will also be sharing their visions for generative AI and the new mobile experiences that the technology will enable. It is just a pity that John Deere Chairman and CEO John May will not be delivering a keynote address at this year’s event. The one he gave at CES 2023 was outstanding, showing how technology advances like AI and IoT are enabling the word’s farmers to feed the ever-growing global population.
Gadgets, gizmos, software and devices. I love all technology.
