MediaTek delivered solid performance during the traditionally slow second quarter of the year, with its total quarterly revenues reaching NT$127.271 billion (US$4.126 billion), nearly 30% higher than the same period last year. The company’s June revenues were NT$43.092 billion (US$1.32 billion), a 2.23% increase from May and 12.75% more than June 2023.
According to industry observers, MediaTek is preparing for a strong second half of the year driven by projected gains amongst leading Chinese smartphone manufacturers with its forthcoming Dimensity 9400 chipset. Built using TSMC’s 3nm process, Dimensity 9400 targeted at the premium segment of the market and is expected to be highly competitive against the forthcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. MediaTek’s current flagship Dimensity 9300/9300+ chips are built using TSMC’s 4nm process.
Other potential bright spots include MediaTek Filogic Wi-Fi 7 chips as well as MediaTek Kompanio platforms for Chromebooks and MediaTek Pentonic SoCs for smart TVs and smart displays. The company is also ramping up promotions of MediaTek Genio platforms for industrial and consumer IoT and edge AI applications as well as MediaTek Dimensity Auto solutions for the automotive market.
